Haj pilgrims not a consumer So they Can’t claim for refund – National Commission (NCDRC)

Haj pilgrims are not a consumer so they can not claim the refund of an amount in NCDRC(National consumer dispute redressal commission). The National commission refused to relieve a person and his son, who had demanded a refund while claiming the Indian Hajj Committee provided the following category services in 2008 while they paid for the high-class service.

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) said the Hajj Committee provides services with no benefit. It is observed that the Hajj Committee provides its services with no benefit and they arranging the real cost for hajj.

The Commission was hearing on a request from the Indian Hajj committee which he had filed a complaint against the order of the Rajasthan State Commission (Rajasthan Consumer Court) in which he was asked to compensate Abbas Ali and his son Faiyaz Hussain. The two had applied for the Hajj journey in 2008 and had selected the ‘Green category’ which is to serve that high class.

Hajj passengers said in their claim that they had paid Rs 96,940 per passenger for their visit, but when they reached Saudi Arabia, they did not find any such arrangement for which they had paid, but they had received the low-class services. The consumer had the door of the court while seeking to return Rs 22,362 to the hajj passengers. His complaint was transmitted to the State Consumer Commission.
